Former Florida Gators wide receiver Andy Jean has officially transferred to the University of Pittsburgh, marking a significant addition to the Panthers’ receiving corps.
Jean, a 6-foot-1, 184-pound athlete from Miami Northwestern High School, was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023. During his high school career, he showcased his playmaking abilities by catching 40 passes for 733 yards and eight touchdowns in his junior season, leading his team to a district title.
At Florida, Jean appeared in five games over two seasons, recording six receptions for 97 yards, averaging 16.2 yards per catch. He also contributed on special teams with two kick returns for 44 yards. His most notable performance came during Floridaโs 22-7 victory against Charlotte, where he amassed 57 all-purpose yards, including a 32-yard reception and a 25-yard reverse.
Seeking increased playing time and a more prominent role, Jean entered the transfer portal in early December. He visited several programs, including Louisville, before committing to Pittsburgh.
Pitt’s coaching staff is optimistic that Jean’s speed, route-running precision, and ability to stretch the field will enhance their offensive strategy. With three years of eligibility remaining, Jean has the opportunity to make an immediate impact and develop further within the Panthers’ system.
His arrival comes at a crucial time, as Pitt looks to bolster its receiving unit following the departures of key players. Jean’s commitment reflects the program’s ongoing efforts to attract top talent and remain competitive in the ACC.
As the Panthers prepare for the upcoming season, Andy Jean’s addition is anticipated to provide a significant boost to their passing game, offering quarterback options and adding depth to the wide receiver position.
