Nebraska football fans received thrilling news this week as Jalyn Gramstad, the 2023 NAIA National Player of the Year and star quarterback, announced his decision to return for a sixth season in 2025. Gramstad, who led Nebraska Wesleyan to an NAIA championship last season, is set to utilize his extra year of eligibility, much to the delight of his team and coaching staff.
Head coach Mike Sanders expressed his excitement during a press conference Friday, calling Gramstad’s return “a game-changer” for the program. “Jalyn is not just an incredible athlete—he’s the heart of this team,” Sanders said. “Having him back for another season gives us an opportunity to build on the success we’ve achieved and to continue competing at the highest level.”
Gramstad’s stellar 2023 season included over 3,000 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 600 rushing yards, cementing his place as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in NAIA history. His leadership both on and off the field has made him a fan favorite and a key figure in the team’s locker room.
When asked about his decision, Gramstad said, “This program means everything to me. We’ve built something special here, and I’m not ready for it to end. I’m coming back to finish what we started.”
With Gramstad’s return, Nebraska enters 2025 as a strong contender for another NAIA championship, and fans eagerly anticipate what their star quarterback will achieve in his final season.
