Georgia sophomore wide receiver Nitro Tuggle has announced his intention to re-enter the NCAA transfer portal.1 This decision comes just months after Tuggle had initially entered the portal in December 2024, only to withdraw his name a few days later and return to the Bulldogs.
Tuggle’s decision to re-enter the portal follows a recent indefinite suspension from the Georgia football team.2 The suspension was announced in March 2025 after Tuggle was arrested on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and speeding.3 Reports indicated that he was caught driving at 107 miles per hour in an area with a 65 mph speed limit.4
As a true freshman in the 2024 season, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Tuggle appeared in eight games for the Bulldogs, recording three receptions for 34 yards.5 His most notable performance came against Tennessee, where he caught two passes for 25 yards. Coming out of Northwood High School in Indiana, Tuggle was a highly-regarded four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.6
His initial decision to enter the transfer portal in December sparked speculation about his future with the program. However, he quickly reversed course, stating his excitement to be part of the “family” at Georgia and expressing his belief in the coaches and the opportunities available to him in Athens.
This time, however, his entry into the transfer portal appears more definitive, especially in light of his suspension. With the spring transfer portal window now open until April 25, 2025, Tuggle will have the opportunity to find a new program for the upcoming seasons. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
The Georgia wide receiver room has seen significant changes in the offseason. Along with Tuggle’s departure, Michael Jackson and Anthony Evans both transferred during the winter portal window. To bolster the receiving corps, Georgia added experienced transfers in Zachariah Branch from USC and Noah Thomas from Texas A&M.7 Additionally, the Bulldogs signed five freshman wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class, four of whom are already on campus.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, even without Tuggle, Georgia possesses a talented group of returning and new wide receivers. This includes seniors Colbie Young and Dillon Bell, juniors London Humphreys and Cole Speer, and redshirt freshman Sacovie White. Both Branch and Thomas are expected to play significant roles immediately.
Tuggle will not be eligible to transfer to another Southeastern Conference (SEC) school due to conference transfer rules. His departure adds another name to the list of Georgia players who have entered the transfer portal this spring, including running back Branson Robinson.8
