Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett has announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Pritchett, a former four-star recruit from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia, was ranked as the No. 34 overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class.
During his tenure at Alabama, Pritchett faced significant competition on the offensive line. In the 2023 season, he appeared in all 14 games, serving as a rotational player before ultimately losing the starting job to Kadyn Proctor.
In 2024, Pritchett played in all 12 games, starting 10 at right tackle and one at left tackle.
Despite these opportunities, Pritchett’s performance faced scrutiny, with some analysts suggesting that his struggles in the latter part of the season may have influenced his decision to seek a new environment where he can further develop his skills.
Pritchett’s departure leaves a vacancy at the right tackle position for Alabama, prompting the team to explore options for his replacement. Wilkin Formby, who was behind Pritchett on the depth chart, is considered a potential candidate to step into the starting role.
As Pritchett enters the transfer portal, he will have two years of eligibility remaining, providing him with the opportunity to contribute significantly to another program seeking an experienced offensive lineman.
His decision reflects the dynamic nature of college football rosters, where players continually assess their positions and prospects to maximize their development and playing time.
