Four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin told On3 that he has changed his commitment from Texas A&M to North Carolina.
The 6-foot-3, 331-pound Ruffin is now the ninth commitment for head coach Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels in the Class of 2026.
“Well first of all, UNC has the greatest coach of all time as far as I am concerned,” Ruffin said. “And an all-star staff. I feel that they can lead me in the right way in order to be developed as I should be. And the atmosphere was great when we were there.”
Ruffin visited campus earlier this month during a major recruiting weekend, which also featured the North Carolina-Duke basketball game.
“I haven’t ever felt energy like this a day in my life,” Ruffin said at the time. “Meeting Julius Peppers and Lawrence Taylor also Bill Belichick made my weekend amazing and special.”
The Tar Heels made Ruffin feel like a huge priority.
“Just knowing that I’m needed at UNC and they tell me that all the time and everyday,” Ruffin said. “They say I’m not wanted I’m needed at UNC. That is a great feeling coming from a great staff.”
Ruffin is eager to play for the coaching staff.
The On3 Industry ranks Ruffin as the No. 10 prospect in his state, the No. 17 defensive lineman nationally, and the No. 184 overall recruit.
