Throughout his standout collegiate career at Jackson State and the University of Colorado, one thing is clear about quarterback Shedeur Sanders: confidence is not in short supply.
The 22-year-old quarterback recently attended the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he sat down for an interview with Tennessee Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt.
During the conversation, Sanders shared his thoughts on the 2025 NFL Draft and the influence he believes he can bring to the professional level, offering a self-assessment of his game.
“I know I am the most guaranteed risk you can take,” Sanders said. “I just know I am going to change a franchise and be happy to be the leader of a team.”
In Mel Kiper’s NFL mock draft, Shedeur Sanders was projected to go third overall to the New York Giants, while Miami’s Cam Ward was predicted to be the first pick, selected by the Tennessee Titans. Current trends suggest Ward might emerge as the consensus top quarterback among draft analysts.
Shedeur Sanders, one of five children of Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, spoke about the significant role his father has played in his development. Deion has been coaching Shedeur since his early years, shaping his skills and mindset as a quarterback.
“I didn’t realize that having your parents involved and wanting the best for you could be seen as a problem,” Shedeur remarked.
“I think every parent wants the best for their kids,” Shedeur said. “So, the fact that he has the opportunity to be there for me—and he has the best quarterback in the country—it’s exactly what he’s supposed to do.”
Sanders wrapped up two seasons at Colorado with an impressive 7,364 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
