To locate a replacement for Liam Coen as the team’s offensive coordinator, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will search far and wide.
There is a well-known name that might be in the running for offensive coordinator, even though the majority of contenders are unknown. The Bucs may be interested in hiring Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly to cover for Coen, according to CBS Sports writer Jonathan Jones.
“Kelly is considered a target for both the Jaguars and Texans OC positions, sources say. He also could get looks in Tampa Bay, among other potential landing spots,” Jones writes.
“Kelly, 61, just won a national championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes. But he’s kept an interest in the NFL for years, including last year when his name was tossed around the league following his UCLA tenure and before he went to Columbus.”
The Buccaneers may be interested in hiring a former head coach like Kelly to help guide the offense next season, but they have already interviewed Marcus Brady of the Los Angeles Chargers and Grant Udinski of the Minnesota Vikings as pass game coordinators.
