Oklahoma is set to appoint Taylor Redd as the program’s assistant general manager, serving as Jim Nagy’s top assistant and assisting in front office operations, a source told On3. Redd, who previously worked with Jake Rosenberg at The Athlete Group, will oversee various aspects of roster management, scouting, player acquisition, and recruiting.
A former New England Patriots scout for six seasons, he was part of the organization when they won Super Bowl LIII in 2018. Over the past nine months, while working with Rosenberg, he has helped Oklahoma and Florida hire general managers and prepare for the revenue-sharing era in college football.
As part of his role with The Athlete Group, Redd worked closely with Brent Venables during the winter transfer portal cycle, assisting with negotiations and contracts. Prior to his tenure with the Patriots, he was one of the youngest Power Five directors of player personnel in the country at Wake Forest. He played a key role in assembling the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes, which contributed to the Demon Deacons’ appearance in the 2021 ACC Championship Game.
Nagy was hired as the program’s general manager in February. The Senior Bowl Executive Director and former NFL scout, Nagy and his staff are expected to help manage the salary cap for Oklahoma football. Schools will have $20.5 million to share in revenue in 2025-26, with football programs expected to be allocated 75% — roughly $15 million.
Along with Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, the hire was made in conjunction with special advisor Randall Stephenson. Nagy and Redd will continue to build out the Oklahoma front office in the coming weeks along with addressing needs in the spring portal and the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes.
During Brent Venables’ three-year tenure in Norman, the Sooners have recorded two 6-7 seasons. Jim Nagy brings over 20 years of experience as an NFL scout and has spent seven years as the executive director of the Senior Bowl.
