Notre Dame is set to lose a key player as veteran wide receiver Jayden Thomas enters the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3.
Thomas, who played in all 16 games this season, contributed 18 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he recorded three carries for 27 rushing yards, playing a significant role in helping Notre Dame reach the national championship game.
Jayden Thomas is transferring after four seasons with the Fighting Irish. A three-star recruit, he joined Notre Dame as the No. 63 ranked receiver in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
After redshirting in the 2021 season, Jayden Thomas had a breakout campaign in 2022, playing in all 13 games and starting seven. He ranked third on the team with 25 receptions and was second in receiving yards with 362, while also recording three touchdown catches.
In 2023, Thomas continued to perform well, appearing in 11 games and starting five. He logged 21 receptions for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
Although his numbers declined slightly in 2024, Jayden Thomas remained a reliable contributor for a Notre Dame team that exceeded expectations by reaching the national championship game before losing to Ohio State.
Now, Thomas has entered the transfer portal, seeking an opportunity to play a more prominent role elsewhere.
Before joining Notre Dame, Jayden Thomas played high school football at Pace Academy in Atlanta. He hails from Paulding County, Georgia.
