According to a report by Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had conversations with Colorado’s Deion Sanders regarding the team’s head coaching vacancy.
Sanders is seen as a leading candidate, and further discussions are anticipated. Although a formal interview has yet to be scheduled, Schultz notes that there is mutual interest. The Cowboys are also set to consider other candidates following the dismissal of Mike McCarthy after five seasons on Monday.
Deion Sanders, 57, has been associated with the Cowboys due to his deep connections to Dallas. He spent five seasons with the team (1995–1999) and was one of the standout players on Dallas’ last Super Bowl-winning roster in 1995.
Deion Sanders previously stated that he had no intention of coaching in the NFL after completing his second season at Colorado. In 2024, he orchestrated an impressive transformation for the Colorado Buffaloes, improving their record from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4. His success was bolstered by Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and his son, Shedeur Sanders, a standout quarterback prospect, who played pivotal roles in the team’s resurgence.
