On January 7, 2021, a relatively unknown defensive lineman from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, made an early commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs. Now, nearly four years later, Seven Cloud has found his way back to Athens.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound rising redshirt sophomore announced his commitment to Georgia on Saturday during a visit to watch the team’s bowl preparation. Cloud’s journey has come full circle as he returns to the Bulldogs’ commitment list after a winding path through the JUCO ranks.
Cloud, currently playing at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, is now the fourth member of Georgia’s Class of 2026. He joins an impressive group that includes wide receiver Vance Spafford, cornerback Jonatavius Wyman, and tight end Lincoln Keyes.
At Butler Community College, Cloud had an impressive season, recording 48 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He also added three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Although his path to rejoining Georgia’s commitment list was a long one, it’s evident that his loyalty to the Bulldogs never wavered throughout the journey.
“The weekend at Georgia was great,” Cloud told On3’s Steve Wiltfong about his visit to Athens in early October. “I loved it. I’m excited about how much stronger my relationships with the coaches and some of the players are becoming. There’s a lot of love from the whole UGA family.”
This sentiment was consistent with Cloud’s feelings when he received his offer.
“I’m extremely happy right now and blessed to be back in this situation,” Cloud shared with DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson. “I faced a lot of adversity and backlash, but I kept my head down, kept working, and knew that someday God would bring me back to what I wanted the most. (Coach Tray Scott) called to tell me he was proud of everything I’ve overcome over the past couple of years since decommitting from Georgia. He said he couldn’t wait to have me back, that he loves me, and to keep grinding.”
