Despite just declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is returning to school for his sixth season after committing to play for Miami (Fla.) in 2025.
After rumors circulated earlier this week that Beck had logged onto the college football transfer portal and was considering all of his options, he made the announcement on Friday. According to reports, Beck and the Canes inked a grant-in-aid contract.
Before starting the last two games for the Bulldogs, the senior signal-caller played five seasons at Georgia, backing up Stetson Bennett on the team’s 2021 and 2022 championship teams. During his collegiate career, Beck completed 68% of his throws for 7,912 yards, 58 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He helped Georgia to a total 24-3 record by playing in 39 games, 27 of which were in the latter two seasons.
After sustaining a season-ending injury during Georgia’s victory over Texas in the SEC Championship Game in December, Beck is recuperating from elbow surgery. With backup quarterback Gunner Stockton in the starting lineup, the Bulldogs then fell to Notre Dame in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoffs.
According to ESPN, Miami, which finished 10-3 and lost quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward to the draft, was regarded as one of the favorites to acquire Beck through the gateway. However, according to the article, Beck was getting feedback that he might have been chosen anywhere from the first to the third rounds of this year’s selection.
Once a four-star prospect, Beck currently leads the 2026 quarterback draft class, which also includes Drew Allar of Penn State and Garrett Nussmeier of LSU
