In a significant offseason move, former Virginia Tech safety Jalen Stroman has officially committed to the University of Notre Dame. The announcement, made earlier today, adds a key piece to the Fighting Irish defense for the upcoming season.
Stroman, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety, emerged as a standout during his time at Virginia Tech, showcasing versatility and playmaking ability in the secondary. Known for his physicality, football IQ, and knack for creating turnovers, Stroman recorded impressive stats in the 2023 season, including 65 tackles, three interceptions, and seven passes defended.
Notre Dame, which has consistently been a top contender on the national stage, is expected to benefit greatly from Stroman’s experience and skillset. Head coach Marcus Freeman praised the addition, stating, “Jalen brings a level of intensity and leadership that aligns perfectly with our program’s values. We’re excited to see him make an impact.”
Stroman, who entered the transfer portal last month, had garnered interest from several top programs but ultimately chose Notre Dame for its winning tradition and academic reputation. In a statement, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m grateful for my time at Virginia Tech, but I’m excited for this next chapter with Notre Dame. I’m ready to compete and help this team reach its goals.”
With Stroman now in the fold, Notre Dame fans have reason to be optimistic about their defense as the team prepares for the 2025 season. His addition signals a continued commitment to bolstering the Fighting Irish roster through strategic recruiting and transfers.
