Former USC and Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander is transferring to the Oregon Ducks, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Alexander was previously a Top 100 prospect.
Alexander started his career at Georgia in 2022 as a true freshman before moving to USC for the 2023 season. After playing four games with the Trojans in 2024, he left the team and intended to enter the transfer portal.
Oregon, Penn State, and SMU were the most appealing options for Alexander during his recent recruitment in the transfer portal, he shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Ultimately, the Ducks emerged as the winners in securing the defender’s talent.
Alexander spent the last two seasons at USC after starting his career at Georgia. He played in 28 games for both the Bulldogs and Trojans, including several starts on the defensive line during his time in Los Angeles. However, his most recent season was cut short, as he played only the first three games before leaving USC.
In those outings, Alexander has posted 61 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and four deflections with most of that coming during his sophomore season.
According to On3’s current rankings for the 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players, Alexander is ranked as the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 29 overall transfer.
That’s all after Alexander, a native of Denton, Texas, was a former four-star recruit out of IMG Academy in the 2022 cycle. That’s per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He rated as the No. 43 overall player and the No. 7 DL.
When on the field with a program, Alexander has been impactful with a lot of pedigree there. Oregon has to be elated to land one of the best players available in the portal.
