Former NC State wide receiver KC Concepcion has announced his commitment to Texas A&M through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Having spent two seasons at NC State, he retains two years of eligibility.
Concepcion burst onto the scene in 2023 during his true freshman campaign, finishing the season with 71 catches for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns — the most receiving touchdowns and receptions by a freshman in program history.
His performance earned him the title of 2023 ACC Freshman of the Year. Furthermore, On3 recognised Concepcion as its Offensive True Freshman of the Year.
Following an impressive debut season, Concepcion’s production dipped this year. Over 12 games, he recorded 53 receptions for 460 yards and six touchdowns.
Despite the decline in stats, On3 ranked him as the No. 5 player to enter the transfer portal this offseason and the No. 3 wide receiver, behind only Eric Singleton and Zachariah Branch.
KC Concepcion played high school football at Chambers High School in North Carolina, where he was rated a four-star prospect. According to the On3 Industry Ranking—a composite that incorporates evaluations from all four major recruiting services—he ranked as the No. 590 overall recruit and the No. 90 wide receiver in the 2023 recruiting class.
With Concepcion out wide next season, Texas A&M should be able to rely more heavily on its passing game. The team only averaged 210.3 passing yards per game this season, ranking No. 87 in the country. Alas, the Aggies struggled to find a consistent starter at quarterback, alternating between multiple players throughout the season
Now, quarterback Marcel Reed is expected to be Texas A&M’s QB1 next season. Reed finished the 2024 campaign with 1,864 passing yards and 15 touchdowns while throwing six interceptions.
With Reed running the offense on a weekly basis, fans are hopeful that Texas A&M will find a better passing rhythm next season. Adding the No. 3 wide receiver in the NCAA Transfer Portal certainly will help.
