Four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters
has withdrawn his commitment from Florida.
Previously committed to the Gators since June 15, Waters had also been pledged to Florida State earlier in his recruitment.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, he is ranked No. 120 overall and No. 11 among cornerbacks in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which aggregates evaluations from all four major recruiting media outlets. He is also ranked as the No. 19 player in Florida.
Programs haven’t let their foot off the gas in Waters’ recruitment, with Miami being another in-state school working hard to land his pledge. The Hurricanes hired Florida’s Will Harris to be the new defensive backs coach in Coral Gables on Feb. 13.
In an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons in January, Waters mentioned that Miami was “right there” alongside the Gators.
“Florida and Miami both feel like home to me since I live in Florida. Both teams are always pushing for my commitment. In Miami, the coaches are particularly eager to have me, and it’s always great being around their people,” he explained.
