Defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis, a transfer from Alabama, has committed to Colorado, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. After three seasons with Alabama, Oatis will now join Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
Jehiem Oatis joined the Crimson Tide as a four-star recruit and was ranked as the No. 11 defensive lineman nationally in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He was considered one of the top players available in the transfer portal.
Oatis featured in four games this season, recording two tackles, a pass breakup, and a quarterback hurry. He entered the transfer portal in October.
During his first two seasons at Alabama, Jehiem Oatis recorded 55 tackles, four pass deflections, and 1.5 sacks.
In October, Jehiem Oatis shared his reasons for leaving Alabama and entering the transfer portal.
“To the University of Alabama, my teammates, coaches, fans, and everyone who has been part of my journey since I first stepped on campus,” Oatis began in a statement on Instagram.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to take a redshirt and enter the transfer portal in December. This decision did not come easily but I need to prioritize my future and career. While this season did not unfold the way we had hoped, my love for this school and its incredible fan base remains as strong as ever. I am deeply grateful for the memories and experiences that have shaped me here, and I will carry them with me for the rest of my life.
“As I look forward to the next chapter, I am excited to find a new home where I can bring NFL-caliber play and help my future team compete for championships.
“At this time, all communication will go through my representatives at Young Money APAA Sports, Adie Von Gontard, and Noah Reisendfild. Please respect my decision, and thank you for the support. God Bless.”
Colorado and Deion Sanders had an excellent year in 2024. The Buffaloes were one of the biggest surprises in college football, going 9-3 during the regular season.
