Mississippi State Bulldogs wide receiver Mario Craver has announced his transfer commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Mario Craver appeared in nine games during his freshman season in Starkville, recording 17 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, he had three rushing attempts for seven yards. Notably, his standout performance came against Texas A&M, where he tallied five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown.
The 2024 season marked Jeff Lebby’s debut as head coach at Mississippi State, but it proved to be a challenging year as the Bulldogs focused on rebuilding. They finished with a 2-10 overall record and went winless in the SEC at 0-8, placing them last in the conference. Additionally, Mario Craver dealt with injuries throughout the season, which sidelined him at times.
Mario Craver, a former standout at Clay-Chalkville High School in Alabama, was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He ranked as the 46th-best wide receiver and the 279th overall player in his recruiting class.
Now, Mario Craver is joining is set to join a Texas A&M team that is also coming off its first season under a new head coach. However, in the Aggies’ case, Mike Elko had them competitive to make the SEC Championship Game at the end of the season.
Texas A&M does have room to improve next season, particularly on offense. In a season where there was some back and forth about who the team’s quarterback was going to be, the Aggies averaged 30.3 points per game, which is 47th in the country in scoring offense. The passing offense for Texas A&M was 93rd in the country following the regular season, averaging 203.5 yards per game passing.
The Transfer Portal opened on Monday, December 9, and Texas A&M has wasted no time making moves. So far, 17 players have transferred out of the program, while four have transferred in, including two from other SEC schools. The Aggies anticipate their transfer class will continue to expand in the coming weeks.
Mario Craver will have three more seasons of eligibility.
