Oklahoma transfer defensive back Makari Vickers has committed to Colorado, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Vickers has three years of eligibility remaining.
Vickers spent two seasons at Oklahoma, redshirting this past year while appearing in four games and recording one tackle. In 2023, as a true freshman, he played in eight games, tallying eight tackles and one pass defended.
Vickers played high school football at Robert F. Munroe Day School in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was a four-star recruit. Ranked No. 83 overall in the 2023 class, his rating was based on the On3 Industry Ranking, which combines evaluations from all four major recruiting media outlets.
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have continued their active approach in the transfer portal this cycle. Makari Vickers becomes the seventh transfer commitment for Colorado and the latest big addition announced on Wednesday.
Colorado secured a significant addition to its roster on Wednesday with the commitment of former Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter. He will join elite signee Julian Lewis in the Buffaloes’ quarterback room and is ranked as the No. 11 quarterback to enter the transfer portal this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
In the 2024 season, Kaidon Salter threw for 1,886 yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 579 yards and seven scores. This followed his breakout 2023 campaign, where he amassed 2,876 passing yards and 32 touchdowns through the air, alongside 1,089 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Over the span of four seasons, Salter accumulated 5,889 passing yards, 56 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, with a completion rate of 58.7%. He also rushed for 2,006 yards and 21 touchdowns. Salter will have one year of eligibility left as he moves to Boulder.
