Former Ohio State quarterback Air Noland has announced his commitment to South Carolina through the NCAA transfer portal, as reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Noland was with the Buckeyes for only one season.
Noland had planned a visit to South Carolina last week. After enrolling at Ohio State in January, he participated in spring practice with the Buckeyes. During the winter transfer portal window, Ohio State added Julian Sayin, a short-term signee from Alabama, bringing the total number of scholarship quarterbacks on the roster to five for spring practice.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly refrained from naming a starting quarterback following the spring game.
Noland made an early commitment to the Buckeyes in April 2023. A finalist for the Elite 11 this past summer, he stood out as one of the most accurate passers in the group. Despite Sayin’s arrival in January, Noland stayed committed to Ohio State.
Noland went 5 of 7 in the spring game, passing for 47 yards and throwing an interception. The skilled southpaw chose the Buckeyes over Alabama, Miami, and Texas A&M. As a senior at Langston Hughes High School in Georgia, he completed 66.5% of his passes for 2,140 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. In his junior year, however, Noland threw for 4,095 yards and 55 touchdown passes, leading his team to a state title.
As a member of the Class of 2024, Noland was a four-star recruit from Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average from all four major recruiting media companies. He ranked as the No. 9 prospect in Georgia, the No. 5 quarterback in the class, and the No. 59 overall prospect in the class.
