Notre Dame offensive lineman Pat Coogan is reportedly set to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to sources from On3. Coogan gained recognition for his fiery pregame speeches, including a memorable one before the Sugar Bowl, where he passionately declared, “It’s God, it’s country, it’s motherf—ing Notre Dame.”
A 13-game starter this season, Coogan played a pivotal role as the center for the Fighting Irish, anchoring an offensive line that contributed to Jeremiyah Love’s 1,125-yard rushing campaign in 2024. With 26 career starts at both center and left guard, Coogan has been a cornerstone of Notre Dame’s offensive success.
“Coogs is an unbelievable leader,” Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman recently said. “He is passionate about this place. He is passionate about his position. Never complained about his role, just worked, and now he’s starting center and battling.”
During Notre Dame’s Week 3 victory against Purdue, junior center Ashton Craig suffered a season-ending ACL tear after a stray body collided with his knee while he was engaged in a block. This unfortunate injury paved the way for Pat Coogan to take over at center
Pat Coogan, a senior center from Palos Heights, Illinois, allowed just eight quarterback pressures and only one sack during the 2024 season. With one year of eligibility remaining, the former three-star recruit has proven to be a reliable presence on the offensive line. Notre Dame is projected to feature one of the nation’s top offensive lines heading into the 2025 season.
