Former Houston Cougars wide receiver Jonah Wilson has officially joined Texas A&M through the NCAA transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Wilson featured in seven games for Houston during the 2024 season, recording nine receptions for 58 yards in his redshirt freshman year. The 6-foot-2 Houston native had limited opportunities with the Cougars throughout his time there.
The Cougars concluded the 2024 season with a 4-8 overall record, losing their final three games. In the seven games where Wilson registered stats, Houston went 2-5. Notably, Wilson did not record any receptions after the upset victory over No. 17 Kansas State on November 2.
Wilson emerged from the 2023 recruiting class as a four-star prospect, according to the On3 Industry Rankings—a proprietary algorithm that aggregates ratings and rankings from the four major recruiting services. He ranked as the No. 288 overall player in his class and the No. 41 wide receiver.
Wilson initially committed to Texas before his senior year of high school but later switched his commitment to his hometown team, the Houston Cougars, before graduation. He spent two seasons with Houston, opting to redshirt during his true freshman year.
Texas A&M is undergoing a complete overhaul of its receiver corps under head coach Mike Elko, who has aggressively targeted the position through the transfer portal. Jonah Wilson becomes the fourth addition, joining Mario Carver, KC Concepcion, and Micah Hudson.
Each player was either a highly touted recruit out of high school or highly rated in the portal. This significant haul aims to provide quarterback Marcel Reed with stronger offensive weapons ahead of the 2025 season.
