In recent weeks, speculation has swirled around Georgia Bulldogs’ four-star wide receiver commit, Vance Spafford, regarding potential flips to rival programs. Despite these rumors, Spafford remains steadfast in his commitment to Georgia, dismissing the chatter with a confident, “Let them talk.”
Spafford, a standout at Mission Viejo High School in California, committed to Georgia in November 2024. His commitment came after a stellar sophomore season, where he recorded 83 receptions for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns. Ranked as the No. 59 recruit nationally and the eighth-best wide receiver in the 2026 class, his performance has naturally attracted attention from other top programs.
The Alabama Crimson Tide extended an offer to Spafford in January 2025, aiming to sway him from his pledge to Georgia. Similarly, the USC Trojans have intensified their recruitment efforts, extending an offer and arranging an upcoming visit with Spafford.
USC commit Brandon Lockhart, a four-star cornerback from Loyola High School, is actively recruiting Spafford to join the Trojans. Lockhart’s efforts are part of USC’s broader strategy to assemble a top-tier 2026 recruiting class, with Spafford being a key target.
Despite these overtures, Spafford has not publicly wavered in his commitment to the Bulldogs. His “let them talk” stance reflects a focus on his development and future at Georgia, undeterred by external speculation.
As the recruiting landscape evolves, Spafford’s steadfastness will be tested. For now, he remains a pivotal component of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class, embodying the program’s aspirations for sustained excellence.
