Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., after two seasons with the Yellow Jackets, has joined Auburn through the NCAA transfer portal.
After a standout 2024 season, Eric Singleton Jr. became a highly sought-after player in the transfer portal, visiting Auburn, Ole Miss, and Georgia as he explored his options.
Eric Singleton Jr. recently completed his sophomore season with the Yellow Jackets, where he consistently led the team in receiving across both years in Atlanta. During his time at Georgia Tech, he recorded a total of 104 catches for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. Although his touchdown tally dropped to three this fall, he improved his overall performance with 56 receptions for 754 yards, surpassing his previous season’s numbers in catches and yardage.
When Eric Singleton Jr. entered the transfer portal on Monday, he was ranked as the No. 1 overall player and the top wide receiver in On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players. Predictions for his next destination were closely contested, with Georgia leading at 53.3% and Auburn trailing at 46.7%, according to the RPM.
Eric Singleton Jr., a Class of 2023 recruit from Douglasville (Ga.) Alexander, was rated as a three-star prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which combines evaluations from the four major recruiting media outlets. He was ranked as the No. 105 prospect in Georgia, the No. 164 wide receiver, and the No. 1,078 overall prospect in his class.
Now that Singleton is in the fold, Auburn has quite the playmaker going into 2025. Since QBs have to throw the ball to someone like Singleton, Freeze was honest about recruiting and portal recruiting at the position.
“I’ve told all our guys, obviously we’re really excited about our signing Deuce (Knight),” Freeze said. “I think he’s incredibly talented, and obviously I like Walker (White) and Hank (Brown) too. But you’re going to have four quarterbacks on your roster. I don’t care what school you go to, some may choose to have five, but we’re at least going to have four quarterbacks on our roster, and currently we have three.
“So we’re looking, you know, obviously, to have a fourth guy in there, and not sure exactly what that looks like right now, because not sure who all is going in the portal and all of that, but excited about getting the work with Deuce, Hank and Walker for sure. And Whoever we add as that fourth guy.”
