The Ohio State Buckeyes, led by Jack Sawyer, hope to defeat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the national championship game to cap up their 2024 campaign. Sawyer’s stellar tenure with the program would come to an end at that point as well.
Sawyer has been the team’s lifeblood throughout the entire season. He has been the defense’s undeniable leader and a major source of inspiration for the offense.
He has performed incredibly well on the field this season in addition to carrying a heavy leadership burden.
In addition to his 56 tackles, Sawyer has recorded nine sacks, three forced fumbles, an interception, two defensive touchdowns, and six defended passes in the 2024 season. That kind of production is indisputable.
Sawyer, though, will consider this season a failure if he and his squad are unable to win one more game.
Pro Football Focus has given Sawyer an absurd grade for his 2024 season, based on his individual performance. At 91.2, he was the player with the highest grade on the Ohio State team.
Sawyer deserves that grade more than anything. He has been so good that he is ranked above all of the other outstanding players the Buckeyes have had this season.
Regretfully, everything nice does have an end. As previously stated, Sawyer’s final game with Ohio State is scheduled for Monday night. Following that, he will go to play in the NFL on Sundays.
Returning to Columbus with a national championship would be the ideal way to send Sawyer and the other players off to the next level or to complete their college eligibility.
I hope Sawyer and his team can secure the victory. If the Buckeyes perform to their best, they should be able to defeat Notre Dame, though it won’t be simple.
It’s encouraging to see Sawyer receiving the credit he merits. It would be an appropriate way for him to wrap up his time at Ohio State to witness him receive that accolades and win a championship.
