Florida State University has secured a significant commitment from four-star safety Mekhi Williams, bolstering its 2027 recruiting class. Williams, hailing from Lennard High School in Ruskin, Florida, chose the Seminoles over offers from Wake Forest, Colorado, and Liberty.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 155 pounds, Williams is recognized for his exceptional field coverage and ball-hawking abilities, evidenced by his five interceptions in the previous season. His athleticism extends to track and field, where he competes in the 400 meters, showcasing his speed and versatility.
Williams received his offer from Florida State in January and subsequently made two unofficial visits to Tallahassee. His most recent visit was during FSU’s Legacy Weekend, which played a pivotal role in solidifying his decision to commit.
This commitment marks the second addition to Florida State’s 2027 class, with Williams joining cornerback prospect Jaylen Scott from Mobile, Alabama. The early commitments of these promising defensive backs reflect the Seminoles’ strategic focus on strengthening their secondary for the future.
Williams’ decision to join Florida State underscores the program’s growing appeal to top-tier talent within the state and beyond. His commitment is expected to enhance the Seminoles’ defensive capabilities in the coming years.
