Georgia defensive back Jake Pope has announced his plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Pope completed his first season with the Bulldogs after spending his initial two years of college football at Alabama. He was one of several players who transferred from Tuscaloosa following Nick Saban’s retirement last offseason.
Jake Pope redshirted during his first year at Alabama but has since played in double-digit games over the past two seasons with both Alabama and Georgia, though he has not recorded any statistics. Throughout his college career, Pope has seen playing time on defense and has also contributed on special teams.
Pope did catch the attention of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, though not for the right reasons, during his lone year in Athens.
Jake Pope played high school football at Buford, where he was ranked as the No. 315 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which averages ratings from all four major recruiting media companies. He was also ranked as the No. 31 safety in the class and a Top-30 player from Georgia.
After three seasons with two of college football’s most prestigious programs, Pope is now set to seek a new team for his fourth year as he enters the transfer portal.
