Highly rated On300 edge rusher Jamarion Matthews officially committed to Alabama on Friday afternoon.
The highly touted recruit informed Freddie Roach of his decision to commit to Alabama on Thursday. Earlier this month, he participated in the program’s Elite Junior Day.
Ranked by On3 as the nation’s No. 12 edge rusher and the No. 112 overall prospect, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Jamarion Matthews was also recruited by Jatavis Sanders.
Matthews made multiple visits to Alabama throughout his recruitment, including a trip for the Iron Bowl at the end of the regular season.
“I love the atmosphere and the energy from both the fans and players at Bama,” Matthews shared.
Matthews committed to Alabama despite offers from Clemson, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, and Vanderbilt. He becomes the third commitment for Kalen DeBoer and his staff in the 2026 recruiting cycle, joining On300 cornerback Zyan Gibson and four-star offensive lineman Chris Booker.
As a junior, Jamarion Matthews recorded 57 tackles, including 29 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.
“Super productive,” said On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power. “One of the most productive pass rushers in the 2026 class. He wins with quickness and relentless effort, consistently finding ways to pressure the quarterback. He’s highly competitive with a strong combination of explosiveness and play strength.”
