Colorado Buffaloes standout Travis Hunter will be in New York on December 14 for the Heisman Trophy Award ceremony.
After a historic season with the Buffaloes, Hunter is considered a heavy favourite to win the Heisman Trophy, with odds of -2000, according to On3 Sports. He is competing against other stars such as Dillon Gabriel, Cam Ward, and Ashton Jeanty.
Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders discussed Hunter’s Heisman chances, issuing a subtle warning to the college football community if the Colorado wide receiver/cornerback does not win.
“We got another award to pick up right?” Sanders said. “Saturday right. It’s going to be something happening if we don’t pick up that award.”
Sanders nodded in agreement when mentioning that “something will happen” if Hunter doesn’t win, adding, “I’m just letting y’all know.”
Hunter wrapped up the 2024 college football season with 14 touchdowns, 1,152 yards, and 92 receptions, leading the Buffaloes in all three categories.
The junior athlete also registered one forced fumble, four interceptions, 11 pass deflections, and 31 tackles on the defensive side.
Prior to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, Hunter was named the recipient of the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top wide receiver, and the Bednarik Award, awarded to the nation’s top defensive player.
Hunter was also honored with the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, presented to the top player in college football.
